Discover Fall-Seeded Camelina Opportunities
Follow our fall-seeded camelina project as camelina could make a great addition to your crop rotation. The camelina market is under development in this region and offers an opportunity as an overwinter cash crop.
As part of our Saving Soils study, a Farming Smarter fall-seeded camelina project investigates opportunities to improve soil health in southern Alberta.
We highly recommend you follow this project. We harvested the first year of crop and will analyze the data over fall/winter. Come spring, we’ll have a preliminary report for you on the website. Make sure to keep an eye out for that!
If you’re interested in learning more about the rest of our Saving Soils projects, you can read about our Living Mulch and Roller Crimping trials! These projects explore accessible practices to improve soil health without diminishing crop yields.
