Full Bio Mike Gretzinger leads the Agronomy Research team by coordinating the agronomy trials at Farming Smarter as well as collaborations with external groups such as AAFC, InnoTech Alberta, Lethbridge Polytechnic, SARDA Ag Research, the University of Lethbridge, Alberta, Manitoba, and others. He is the branch between the academic and practical, and oversees trial management as well as quality standards for the data collection, protocols, seeding, spraying, pictures, and harvest for the small plots for research and field events. With 15 years in the Agriculture industry, Mike is here to answer questions related to the past and present research projects we've accomplished. In his past life, he finished a B.Sc Biochemistry (UofL), he worked co-ops in quality control (Black Velvet Distilleries, Maple Leaf Pork) and with University of Alberta (cabbage seedpod weevil). He got involved with Farming Smarter and is able to put his passion for working outdoors and learning new things about agriculture to good use, particularly with novel crops. Mike enjoys that his role is ever evolving and growing along with his skills, knowledge and the organization. He's glad to have the fortune to mix his academic and scientific skills with the day-to-day needs of agriculture research. |
