Rural communities in Alberta can apply to a $100,000 grant program for projects that strengthen education, recreation and culture in their community.
The UFA Rural Communities Foundation (RCF) opened this year’s program on Farmer’s Day, June 12, to applications from communities.

“Farmer’s Day is a day to recognize farmers and their important work at home and in their communities. We know the importance of rural communities and with a $100,000 grant a year for five years, the foundation wants to ensure our farmers and rural communities remain strong,” said RCF board chair, Harvey Hagman.
Application forms are online and groups who are eligible to apply include registered charities under the Canada Revenue Agency, non-profit organizations registered with either the provincial or municipal government and community service co-operatives.
Potential projects must also be within 200 kilometres of an UFA location and must be completed within two years. Organizations can apply between June 12 and August 31st. UFA RCF will announce grant Recipients in October during Co-operative week.
