Rotary Agriculture Scholarship for southern Alberta

Take part in the success of the Rotary Agriculture Scholarship that helps local young people and our industry. The 2021 Rotary Club of Lethbridge East/Lethbridge Exhibition Park Agricultural Scholarship awards $10,000 to a southern Alberta student continuing their education into a third year in agriculture related studies at a recognized post secondary institution.

This is a new scholarship just going into its third year under the careful direction of Rotary Club of Lethbridge East/Lethbridge Exhibition Park. According to its website, Rotary Club of Lethbridge East created the Agricultural Scholarships to recognize the importance of agriculture in our community by supporting top students in the pursuit of an agricultural career. Southern Alberta agriculture and agri-business is the reason our community weathered the economic impact of the COVID-19 pandemic more successfully than other major cities in Alberta.

Agriculture students visit Farming Smarter plots in 2019 through a special event partnership of Lethbridge College, Dalhousie University and McGill University.

As with everything during this pandemic, the ag scholarship must take a different approach this year to fundraising and the award ceremony itself. Here is where you can help.

New this year is an online auction that goes live Wednesday Jan. 27. You can help by donating an item worth $100 or more and, of course, by bidding on items in the auction through the link on the bottom of the Rotary Club of Lethbridge East homepage.

There is also a 50/50 draw with tickets on sale now. Rotary Club hopes to raise at least $20,000 through these two initiatives so that it can award two $10,000 scholarships during an online event Feb. 25.
