Thanks to Lethbridge College, Farming Smarter’s head office now temporarily includes some classrooms, extra washrooms and more shop.
Lethbridge College gave Farming Smarter access to the entire building on Hwy 512 (Jail Road) to give Farming Smarter room to safely operate through the COVID-19 pandemic.
The three-component building was unused so Farming Smarter requested the additional space to accommodate the summer students it employs each year. Access to the full building gives them space to set up workstations that allow for social distance and continue their research projects without putting their research technicians at risk.
“We have a long-standing relationship with Lethbridge College and our agreements slowly increase in complexity,” commented Ken Coles, Executive Director of Farming Smarter “We’ve rented the land from them for the last 15 years and recently signed another 15-year agreement along with many other agreements to learn and work with them.”
Farming Smarter and Lethbridge College share a goal of educating and preparing post-secondary students for careers in agriculture.
