During this quarantine period, what better way to pass the time than with four Farming Smarter podcast episodes! You can find them on our website, SoundCloud or YouTube Channel!

Dr. Claudia Sheedy and Farming Smarter teamed up to talk about building a biobed to manage pesticide rinsates on your farm. Farming Smarter has created two biobeds already, one for our own farm that is often included in tours, as well as a biobed trailer that can travel across southern Alberta for people to copy or use as a template for creating their own! Along with this, Farming Smarter has compiled a parts list available to everyone interested in undertaking this project!

Dr. Jan Slaski of Innotech Alberta came on to talk about his studies of the hemp plant, from seed to its final product. 2020 marks his 18th year pursuing hemp research across the province of Alberta and is an active part of the Canadian Hemp Trade Alliance.

Farming Smarter has joined up with Dr. Mike Harding of Alberta Agriculture and Farming and Grimmers Canine College in order to train dogs to sniff out clubroot in the soil. This is a pilot project showing that it is possible to train and use dogs to locate clubroot.

Dr. Charles Geddes stopped by to speak about his work in herbicide resistance research in southern Alberta at the Agriculture and Agri-Food Canada research center. Mike Gretzinger speaks with him about his finding across southern Alberta.
