2021 Agronomy Smarts Scholarship Winners

Categories
2021 agronomy smarts

Five young people starting out in agriculture can tap into the Farming Smarter knowledge bank and network for the next year thanks to Alberta Wheat Commission that sponsored one-year Agronomy Smarts subscriptions for them.

Today, we’re ecstatic to announce the winners!
Congratulations to:
Adam Fast
Brady Donkergoed
Cameron Sande
Jackie Heather
Jack Kultgen

We asked a few of our winners what an Agronomy Smarts subscription meant to them.

Cameron worked with Farming Smarter for two years while attending university.

“I learned a lot while working with Farming Smarter in small plots and then into field scale; which is more applicable to farms. I want to get my Certified Crop Advisor designation and keep up my credits through Farming Smarter.”

Cameron graduated with a BA Geography (Agriculture) from the University of Lethbridge and plans to spend her life farming in southern Alberta. She’s looking forward to learning the mechanical and business side of farm operation through working on the family farm.

Adam Fast is pursuing a career in research agronomy. He begins his MSc in agronomy at the University of Alberta in the fall and can’t be more excited!

“I want to learn more about what Farming Smarter offers in the field of agronomy as well as all the people they collaborate with.”

An Agronomy Smarts subscription includes entry to virtual and in-person events, digital and video information about on-going research projects and access to information through a subscriber only enews and app. The subscriptions also offer over $15,000 in products and services from Smart Partners engaged with Farming Smarter.

Alberta Wheat Commission prioritizes equipping farmers with the most advanced genetics and up-to-date agronomic management strategies. They provide education initiatives that provide tools to improve farm operations.
