845 Spuds Farms invests heavily in research on their own farm to continually improve their potato yields and quality while maintaining different sustainable farming strategies. In a field just outside of Coaldale, we will explore multiple product trials that have been conducted at a field scale level to help with nutrient availability in heavier soils, especially phosphorus. Hear from the farm and from us about what on-farm trials look like and what different we can try in a heavier soil on helping with nutrient availability. |

Stop 2: |
|
Farming Smarter has 4 different, four-year trial sites on farm’s dryland corners where we will be conducting different strategies on how to manage kochia as this weed becomes more and more of a concern for farms. Explore one of those sites, just north of our home locations to see the beginnings of this project! Hear from us and Dr. Charles Geddes on our different strategies for controlling this prolific weed over the next 4 years, what farms can do to help mitigate this challenge on their own farms. |
